Happy Birthday Rob!

We like to get together with my aunt and cousin Sarah. For Rob's birthday we met at Benihana. We had never been there before but it was very fun. We even sang happy birthday to the beat of a very loud drum and had ice cream.

Our cook making the veggie fried rice.

Rob and the kids watching the cook make chicken.

We found it interesting that we were in a Japanese restaurant and our cook was Alfredo a Hispanic man.

Jeremy had to have his own hat. He looks like Alfredo.

That girl can really kick butt!

Once again I forgot how to put the pictures in the correct order so these are in reverse order. We are so proud of Emily. She started karate in the fall of 2004 at 9 years old. She earned her black belt almost 6 years to the day of earning her first belt.

Emily moved up the line because she is older than the two black belts to her left.

Shaking hands with Grand Master Saffold.

A tradition in this class is that the black belts surround the newest black belt and the Master ties the last knot of the new belt.

Emily putting on her new belt. Her official belt is on order. It will have her name on it in English and in Korean. She will also get a jacket that is trimmed in Black and she will wear black pants in class.

One of the 3 board breaks she had to do. This is her palm heel strike.

Round house kick. It is impossible to get the actual break. Trust me, I have tried. She also did a spinning hook kick.

The thing that made me most nervous is that she had to fight 2 black belts at once. They didn't take it easy on her either. If you notice she did this with out her glasses on which means she could only see blurry people in front of her.

A picture of her entire class. As you can see Emily is so excited and proud of herself.

The boys of Fall

So, there is a great song by Kenny Chesney called The Boy's of Fall. It is about football and it made me think of Jeremy. He decided to play football this fall for his school team. These pictures are from his last game on November 1st. Until this game they were undefeated.

Jeremy is #96 but you can only see the 6 in this picture.

I wish I could of taken a better picture of Jeremy and his team mates. He is a head taller than most of his team. There are only 5 or 6 boys who are tall like him. Jeremy was the wide receiver and his coach was so proud of him for knocking a kid on his butt so our guy could score. I'm just glad we ended the season with no injuries.

Hard Rock Cafe and Halloween

We love to get together with my aunt Rita and cousin Sarah. We went to Greenfield village to do some trick or treating. This is a fun night walking through the village and picking up treats along the path.

I forget how much this pumpkin weighed but it was like 700 lbs.

The path is lined with hundreds of carved pumpkins. Emily had a great time taking pictures of them.

Before we went to trick of treat we met for dinner downtown Detroit at the Hard Rock Cafe.

I just loved this stain glass window in the cafe.

Look, No Braces!

September 29th was a big day for Jeremy. He got his braces off, his football team won their game and he earned his rank of Star scout. We thought we had problems with the girls before but with this great smile I know we are in trouble.

Ok, so this is a bad picture but I once again remembered to take the picture as Jeremy was heading out the door for school. At least I didn't have to run down to the bus stop this time.

Star Scout

On Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 Jeremy advanced in Scouts to the rank of Star Scout. We are very proud of him. He is working very hard at earning his Eagle rank.

Walking to Find a Cure

This is team Emily's Hope. We walk and raise money to help fund research for Type 1 Diabetes. This disease dictates Emily's life right now and insulin is only a treatment NOT a cure. We had fun together and beautiful weather.

Back row: Erin, Jeremy, Yvonne, Jacob, Michelle and Rob
Front row: Sydney, Donna, Emily and Sasha.

Movin right along.

Erin, Sydnie and Emily had our team butterfly logo painted on their faces.

First Day of School 2010

So they are sideways. Deal with it.

Emily started 10th grade this year. I took this picture on the fly so it is a little out of focus.

Jeremy started 7th grade this year and I had to run down to the bus stop to get this picture. Yes. that is a water jug. He had football practice that day too.

Drumline

This is the second year that Emily's marching band has been invited to perform at Cedar Point. The kids have loads of fun and then march in the parade. They were invited back to march next year.

This was the mascot on the trip to Cedar Point. I forgot his name but he is cute.

A couple of shots of Emily performing at Cedar Points Hallow weekends parade.

I thought this was a silly wall.

One cool thing Emily got to do was play for the reopening of her elementary school. I took a picture of her every year under that sign.

Mackinaw City/Mackinac Island trip

So this summer we did NOTHING and by the end of August I had a terrible itch to get out of dodge. I did some surfing on the net and decided that we could afford a little get away up north. Once again I have managed to put the pictures in reverse order so to read this one you have to start at the bottom or you can just travel backwards through our trip. It's your choice, enjoy!

This is a door in the hotel we stayed in. I can understand one or maybe two peep holes but what is the third one for??

Name that foot. Left is Emily's, middle is Jeremy's and right is mine.

The water was too cold for our liking so we just walked barefoot on the beach.

The long day in the warm summer sun took it's toll on Emily. On the boat ride back to the city Emily took a nap. Jeremy was nice enough to put his coat over her so she didn't get cold.

This is Arch Rock it is 146 feet above water and 55 feet wide. Geologists explain that the arch was formed over thousands of years by wind and water eroding soft rock below, leaving only the hard breccia rock which forms the arch. It is really beautiful.

If any of you have been to Mackinac Island you know that there are no motor vehicles allowed on the island. You can hike, bike or take a carriage ride. I splurged this visit and took the guided carriage ride. It was well worth it.

The famous Grand Hotel where two big movies were filmed. This Time For Keeps in 1947 and Somewhere in Time in 1979.

As you come into the island on the ferry you are greeted by this nice vacation homes. I don't think I would be to happy about the ferry coming and going all day while I am trying to enjoy my vacation home.

As we went over to the island I got this picture of the Mighty Mac!

The kids both got to wear the trolley drivers hat and ring the trolley bell.

The sun was down when we arrived at our look out point in the UP. Emily snapped this beautiful shot.

Gone!

going...

going...

going...

As many of you know I am petrified of crossing bridges. In my life my biggest fear has been this huge bridge. Now that I am 40 I decided to be more adventurous and do things I wouldn't normally do. The kids saw this trolley company and the sign for sunset tours over the bridge. I said "Sure, lets go!" They were in total shock but so glad that I was willing to overcome my fears. Our trolley driver was Meegan and she was so nice and fun. I recommend this tour if any of you plan to visit Mackinaw City

These are in the right, but wrong for this post, order. Emily has not met a rock wall she hasn't wanted to climb. She did this one in less than 5 minutes and the kid with her guide rope was impressed. I wish I was so lean and nimble.

This is our week attempt of getting one of those great pictures of Emily holding the whole bridge in her hands.

We had been in the car for almost 3 hours so Emily was over joyed to get out and stretch.

Trip statistics: Gas = 50.00
Hotel = 418.00
Food = 109.78
Souvenirs = 27.31

Total trip cost = 754.34
Amazing, Fun, Relaxing weekend with my kids...Priceless!!
