Happy Birthday to me!
My birthday this year was kind of blah! I had to be up early to take Jeremy to football. Rob came home early and said that he was really tired and his eye hurt. I woke him up at 1:00 to go to lunch only to have him say that he needed to go to urgent care for his eye because something wasn't right. We spent an hour in the urgent care then walked across the parking lot to have lunch. Just as we were finishing lunch his eye started hurting again so back to the urgent care we went. On the way home from all that his eye was really hurting so I said "enough" and called an ophthalmologist and then drove him over to the be seen. He had a tiny tiny tiny metal particle on his cornea. The doctor took care of it but because Rob had been rubbing his eye so much he scratched his cornea so the doctor put a huge bandage on it and said "NO driving!" That sucks because Rob drives for a living. I pulled in the driveway just long enough to send Rob in the house and have Emily get in so she could go to karate lessons. I finally arrived home at 8:30 and got to open my present. A Kindle Fire! According to Rob, next week the newest edition comes out and I can change out and up grade this for just $50.00.
No more carrying my huge heavy scriptures to church. And a million other things I don't even know about yet!
This is my poor husband. His good eye for some reason is sensitive to light now. His poor brain has got to be so confused. Love you dear!

Emily's quilt
The last picture I posted had issues so let's try this one. This is the quilt I made for Emily. If you want more information scroll down to the post about it.

Beautiful
We had a little storm front move through this afternoon and as I pulled into our drive way this is what I saw. A huge beautiful rainbow.
We are the third house off this corner. This is the left side of the rainbow.
I wish I could point out where the light double rainbow is. Look right down the middle of the picture. You can see it best over the blue house in the middle.
This is the sunset that was providing the rainbow for us.
Father's Day
We decided to take a camper with us this year up north. This is Emily's end of the camper. We love our friends Paul and Lori who invite our family up to their cabin for fathers day each year. It is a quiet weekend of relaxing on the beach and eating all kinds of things we really shouldn't. The town we stay in has a car show also.
I snapped this picture of Emily working on her pale. Her friend Garrett does not believe that she ever gets out in the sun. Guess what Garrett? She is still pale!
Emily and Maddy spent a little time building a sand castle with a moat. It took a while since they only had one shovel and one bucket.
From left: Paul, Jeremy, Dave, Jim and Rob. The guys taking a break.
I told Jeremy that I was going to take his picture and this is what he did. I even told him this was going on the family blog. I think he had too much sun.
This is a great picture of Jeremy's tan line. The boy has beautiful tan skin but rarely goes out with out socks on. You can see how ridiculous this looks in the previous beach picture.
Wrapping up the school year
Jeremy participated in his last orchestra concert of 8th grade. We are only allowed to take pictures before their performance.
This is his orchestra teacher Mr. Karpinski. Yes, he is fresh out of college.
My cousin Sarah graduated from high school. Yeah Sarah!
Jeremy's class went to the Tiger's game for a math field trip....how does a ball game relate to math you ask? Statistics!
Happy 14th birthday Jeremy!
For Jeremy's birthday he wanted to go up to Frankenmuth. He loves walking around up there and shopping at the outlets. Since his birthday fell on Memorial day weekend we took advantage of the sales. For some reason Jeremy just couldn't resist getting on this "motorcycle"
I love making my family pose in these cut outs. In case you can't tell, Emily has Rob's head on a platter!

I did it!
After a year of aggravation, mean words, gnashing of teeth and tears I finally finished Emily's quilt. Many times in the last year I have asked myself "Why did you agree to make a quilt? You can't even sew a straight line!" On a recent trip to Jo Ann fabrics I was lamenting to the young man waiting on me and he gave me wise words of wisdom "You never promised her a pretty quilt." He was right, I had never promised Emily a pretty quilt. So last week I got behind my machine and worked every day for a couple of hours on it. Today I put in the batting, sewed up the opening and put it on her bed. I can see every flaw but I am choosing to ignore them just like I know Emily will. If you notice I used some of the left over material to cover her dressing table bench (Rob actually did most of the work).
